Remembrance Day
On 8 November, Astana's first Remembrance Sunday (organised by the Defence Section of the British Embassy) took place at the city's war memorial on Manas street, by kind permission of the Akim of Astana.

Mr David Moran has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan and Non-Resident Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic in succession to Mr Paul Brummell who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Moran will take up his appointment during December 2009.
UK in Kyrgyzstan
All UK diplomats in Kazakhstan are jointly accredited to Kyrgyzstan. The Ambassador is based in the Embassy in Astana and the Embassy Office in Almaty provides visa and consular services.

Persons with disabilities in Kazakhstan: employment and job placement problem

A round-table meeting devoted to the problems of employment and job placement of persons with disabilities in the light of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will be hold in Astana on 9 October.
