Travel advice

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s (FCO) Travel Advice Notices aim to ensure that British travellers are well prepared before departure.

Pandemic flu is now well established in the UK, with over 10,000 cases reported there. Only a few cases have now been reported in Kazakhstan, all imported, but sooner or later we are likely to begin seeing person-to-person transmission here too.

Please visit this NHS website now and store it for future reference.

If you think you might have flu:

  • use the flu symptom-checker at NHS-direct
  • if the symptom-checker points to a likely diagnosis of flu, stay at home or go home
  • contact your normal health care provider for advice on what to do next

Please take extra care over hygiene in the coming days:

  • cough/sneeze into a large tissue
  • dispose of used tissues promptly and carefully
  • wash hands frequently with soap and water to reduce the spread of virus from your hands to face or to other people
  • clean hard surfaces (e.g. door handles, wash basins, toilets) frequently, using a normal cleaning product
  • make sure your children follow this advice

The guidance in this notice may change as the situation evolves.  Please watch out for further communications.
