The work of the Communications section is to promote knowledge and information about Britain among Kazakh citizens to improve mutual understanding between our countries.
Services for the media
We co-operate closely with the local and British mass media engaged in Kazakhstan. We send out regular press-releases on various Embassy activities and arrange interviews and press-conferences for the Embassy’s staff and visitors from London.
We provide information about the UK, British-Kazakh relations and our activities to local journalists. We also distribute speeches of Government Ministers on the main international developments.
Communications section offers copyright free articles, photographs and materials about Britain for use by foreign journalists.
Other services
We receive many enquiries from the Presidential Administration, Parliament, local authorities, ministries and departments, NGOs and the public. Enquiries vary from 'how the judicial system in Britain works' to 'how to find a friend by correspondence in Britain'. We try to answer them all.
The Communications section manages the FCO’s Sponsored Visits programme. This enables the Embassy to send Kazakh government representatives, members of non-government organisations, journalists, scientists etc. on familiarisation visits to the UK or to participate at specific conferences.
We work with other embassies and the British Council to co-ordinate the dissemination of information on Britain in Kazakhstan.
