UKTI Atyrau Office

Atyrau

Most of Kazakhstan’s substantial reserves of oil and gas are located in the West of the country. Exploration and production is set to rise substantially over the coming years, with the majority of growth taking place offshore in the Caspian Sea.

  • In order to provide quality and timely services to UK companies looking for up-to-date information about business opportunities and potential local partners, the British Government established the UK Trade and Investment Office in Atyrau. The office was formally opened by HRH The Duke of York in September 2003.
  • The opening of the office represents a significant commitment at a time many government departments are facing cutbacks. This reflects our optimism about the long-term opportunities in Kazakhstan.
  • The office covers the four Western oblasts (regions) – Atyrau, Mangystau, West Kazakhstan and Aktubinsk – where the greatest oil and gas activity is concentrated. Although office staff will provide advice and assistance on other sectors, their main focus will be helping British companies win business in the oil and gas sector.
  • As part of our job we establish contacts with British citizens working in Western Kazakhstan, however, we do not provide specific consular services. Responsibility for Consular Assistance to all UK citizens remains with the Consular Section of the Embassy in Almaty and all enquiries should be directed to them on tel. +7 (7272) 506191 (or in case of emergencies out of hours tel. +7 (701) 711 2301).
