• The fees below apply from 9 April 2009 and are subject to periodical review;
• all fees are payable in cash in Tenge. Consular exchange rate from 09 June 2009 is 1 GBP = 250 KZT;
• the timescales below are for applications and requests that are correctly made and supported by the necessary documentation. We can advise you on what is required;
• with effect from 15 March 2007 the British Embassy Office in Almaty is able to accept applications for 48-page (Jumbo) British passports, these cost GBP 150 (KZT 37,500);
• with effect from 01 January 2004 the British Embassy Office in Almaty ceased to issue full 10 year passports. All application are being referred to Moscow who can issue machine-readable passports. We recommend that you apply at least two months before your new passport is required;
• The British Embassy Office in Almaty can issue Temporary passports valid for 12 months. These can be processed within 48 hours;
• with effect from 01 June 2006 overseas embassies take applications for Biometrics passports only. Emergency and Temporary passports do not contain biometric data.

We only issue emergency passports if other types of passport cannot be printed in time. For Emergency passports valid for a single journey, the British Embassy can process such application within 24 hours.

Additional fees
There is a call out fee for issuing a temporary or emergency passport outside of office hours. You will need to add this fee to the cost of the passport.

The rate is for every hour or part of an hour for each member of our staff.
