Photo competition

The photo contest was held from 15 March to 31 August 2011.

More than 80 photos were sent to us by our participants.

The public voting from 9 to 17 September 2011 selected the winner - Pavel Ryzhkov. Congratulations! The winner was announced at the British-Kazakh Society Charity Run on 17 September in Astana. Other five finalists are Dogan and Khamza Yildiz, Gaini Omarbekova, Kymbat Sagyndyk, Arailym Sauyitbekova. Well done!

On 6 October UK Ambassador David Moran awarded the winner and finalists of the Photo Contest “Going for Gold” from Almaty with the prizes.

The winner Pavel Ryzhkov who presently works in London participated via Skype and mobile connection. His photo of the volleyball match got the majority of on-line votes in September. David Moran congratulated Pavel and presented him with the photo camera Samsung provided by the contest’s sponsor Samsung Electronics Kazakhstan and Central Asia – local branch of the official sponsor of the London Olympic Games 2012.

Finalists Kymbat Sagyndyk represented by her husband Bekbolat Shaimerden and Arailym Sauytbekova came to the British Embassy Office Almaty to get their branded London 2012 caps for the excellent sport shots.
