The Embassy and British Council helped a group of British alumni to establish the British Alumni Club Kazakhstan (BACK) for young Kazakhstanis who have studied in the UK. The Club is open to those who have attended a British university (undergraduate or postgraduate) or who have participated in other higher-level vocational, professional or academic programmes.

So far the Club has over 400 members on its database, whose fields of specialisation include business, finance, economics, law, engineering and ecology. The majority of members live in Almaty, although the Club also has members across Kazakhstan in Astana, Atyrau, Pavlodar, Karaganda, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Shymkent.    

BACK will be seeking to expand the membership, including through developing further links with educational agencies, the British-Kazakh Society, and Kazakh student groups in the UK.

BACK is holding a regular series of events for the alumni in different spheres – business, educational and social.
